DAY 2: HANOI - SAPA (MEALS: B, L)
After breakfast at your hotel and check-out of your room, you will be picked up by a private vehicle with your private guide and transferred from Hanoi to Sapa via the Noi Bai—Lao Cai Expressway. The travel time is approximately 5 hours. Lunch will be at a local restaurant in Sapa.
Opt 1: In the afternoon, visit the Silver Waterfall, the most beautiful waterfall in Sapa, and Conquer O Quy Ho Pass. O Quy Ho Pass is a popular attraction for travelers looking for adventure and natural beauty on their trip to Sapa. With its winding road and stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, taking a drive through the pass is highly recommended to fully experience the breathtaking scenery of Sapa.
O Quy Ho Pass is situated on Highway 4D running through the Hoang Lien Son range. It is recognized as one of the four most stunning passes in Vietnam, connecting the provinces of Lao Cai and Lai Chau. Sitting at a height of 2,035m above sea level, O Quy Ho Pass is lovingly referred to as "Heaven's Gate" by the locals. The summit is frequently shrouded in clouds, creating a mesmerizing and enticing view that lures countless tourists.
Opt 2: Afternoon, visit Lao Chai and Ta Van villages of the Hmong and Dzay minorities. You have the opportunity to take beautiful photos of rice terraces and enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery. Walk through villages where ethnic people live. Visit their homes and witness their daily activities.
Overnight in Sapa
DAY 3: SAPA - FANSIPAN MOUNTAIN - HANOI (MEALS: B, L)
In the morning, you will have a short transfer to Fansipan Cables Station and take a scenic cable car ride up 3,143 meters above sea level to the peak of Fansipan Mountain, the highest mountain in the Indochinese Peninsula, Fansipan. Take an impressive scenic view of Hoang Lien Son Range and Muong Hoa Valley’s natural landscapes as you ascend the mountain. When you reach the top, admire the breathtaking views and explore the various temples at the peak. Immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of the mountain with a visit to the Bich Van Thien Tu pagoda, Bao An Thien Tu temple, and Thanh Van Dac Lo spiritual landmarks. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Please note: After the cable car ride, you still have to climb another 600 steps to the peak of the mountain (It takes about 30 minutes). The road to ascend to the summit of Fansipan Mountain is incredibly steep and narrow, leading to rapid fatigue and a significant expenditure of energy.
We strongly recommend traveling by funicular for the best and safest experience for you, in both the upward and downward directions. Especially when there are elderly people and children in the group.
Fansipan cable car tickets & Funicular (Round-trip tickets) are not included in the tour
Due to the geology of Fansipan Mountain, the walks are not necessarily suitable for the elderly, disabled, asthmatic or for those who suffer from vertigo or heart conditions. The amount of steps makes it unsuitable for pushchairs or for carrying babies in a sling or backpack. If you are not used to physical exertion, then this walk could be too strenuous for you. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Afternoon, transfer back to Hanoi via Lao Cai - Noi bai Expressway. The travel time is approximately 5 hours. Transfer to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Dinner on your own.

Currency:
The currency used in Vietnam is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). Credit cards are accepted in major cities and tourist areas, but it's recommended to carry cash, especially when traveling to remote areas.
Health and Safety:
It's advisable to have travel insurance that covers medical expenses. Vaccinations for diseases like hepatitis A and B, typhoid, and tetanus are recommended. Tap water is not safe to drink, so it's best to stick to bottled water and avoid street food that may not be properly cooked.

The official language of Vietnam is Vietnamese. While English is spoken in major tourist areas, it's always helpful to learn a few basic Vietnamese phrases or carry a language translation app.
The Best Time to Visit North Vietnam
The best time to visit North Vietnam is between March and May and between September to November, when the weather is mild, dry, and sunny. However, this may vary depending on your specific destinations and interests. For example, if you want to see the rice fields in Ha Giang, the best time is September and October, when they are ripe and golden.
What is the Weather Like in North Vietnam?
The weather in North Vietnam varies depending on the season and the region. Generally, North Vietnam has a cool but mostly dry winter from November to April, and a hot and humid summer from May to October with the most rainfall. The average temperature in Hanoi is 17-22 ° C in winter and 24-32 ° C in summer. The mountainous areas such as Sapa can be quite cold in winter, especially from December to March. The coastal areas such as Halong Bay can be misty and cloudy in winter, but sunny and clear in spring.
What Should I Pack for North Vietnam?
What you should pack for North Vietnam depends on the season and the activities you plan to do. However, some general items that you may need are:
- Lightweight rain jacket or poncho, especially if you are riding a motorbike or visiting during the rainy season
- Long trousers and long-sleeved shirt for visiting temples, pagodas, and other religious sites
- Warm clothes such as a fleece, sweater, or jacket for the colder months or the mountainous areas
- Sunscreen, sunglasses, and hat for sun protection
- Comfortable shoes for walking, hiking or biking
- Swimwear and beach towel if you plan to visit the coast or enjoy water activities
How Do I Get Around in Northern Vietnam?
There are many ways to get around in North Vietnam, depending on your budget, time, and preference. Some of the most common modes of transportation are:
- Plane: You can fly between major cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Vinh, and Dien Bien Phu with domestic airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, and Bamboo Airways. Flying is fast and convenient, but also more expensive and less scenic than other options.
- Train: You can travel by train along the coast from Hanoi to Dong Hoi, Hue, Da Nang, and beyond with Vietnam Railways. Train travel is cheaper than flying, more comfortable than buses, and offers a chance to see the countryside and interact with locals. However, trains are also slower, less frequent and sometimes delayed or crowded.
- Bus: You can take buses to almost anywhere in North Vietnam with various companies such as Hoang Long, Hung Thanh and others. Buses are the cheapest and most flexible way to travel, with many routes and schedules to choose from. However, buses can also be uncomfortable, unsafe, noisy, and prone to scams or overcharging.
- Car: You can rent a car with or without a driver from reputable agencies such as Hanoi Premium Travel. Car rental gives you more freedom and comfort to explore North Vietnam at your own pace. However, car rental is also more expensive, requires a valid driver’s license and international driving permit, and involves dealing with traffic, parking, and road conditions.
- Motorbike: You can rent a motorbike from local shops or hotels in most towns and cities in North Vietnam. Motorbike rental is a popular way to experience the thrill and adventure of North Vietnam, especially in mountainous areas such as Sapa, Ha Giang, or Mai Chau. However, motorbike rental is also risky, requires a valid driver’s license and international driving permit, and involves following traffic rules, wearing helmets, and avoiding accidents.
- Cyclo: You can take a cyclo (a three-wheeled bicycle taxi) for short distances in urban areas such as Hanoi’s Old Quarter or Hoan Kiem Lake. Cyclo is a fun and relaxing way to enjoy the sights and sounds of North Vietnam’s culture and history. However, Cyclo is also slow, limited in availability, and sometimes overpriced or dishonest.
