Day 01: Hanoi - Sapa - Lao chai - Homestay Experience in Ta van (L, D)
After checking out of your hotel and having breakfast, you will be picked up by a Shuttle Limousine Bus for a transfer from Hanoi to Sapa via Noibai - Laocai Expressway. The journey takes approximately 5 hours. You will have lunch at a local restaurant in Sapa.
In the afternoon, you will visit Lao Chai and Ta Van villages, home to Hmong and Dzay minorities. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the stunning mountain scenery and rice terraces. During the visit, you will walk through the villages where ethnic people live, visit their homes, and witness their daily activities.
Transfer to Lao Chai village, which is about 30 minutes from Sapa town. From there, you will start your walk downhill into the valley, home to the largest paddy terrace in the Sapa area. Your guide will share interesting information about rice and rice growing. If you visit in July or September, you may witness the locals planting and harvesting, which are crucial activities in their daily lives. The walk will take you from Lao Chai village of the Black Hmong minority to Ta Van village of the Giay minority. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to capture beautiful photos of rice terraces and interact with ethnic minority people to learn about their customs and cultures.
Upon arrival in Ta Van village, we will visit a Zay family. We will have the opportunity to enjoy a cup of tea and chat with the owner of the house to learn about their daily life, customs, and practices. After that, you will have free time to walk around the villages. Later, we will return to the family to have dinner and stay overnight in a Zay family house in the beautiful Ta Van.

As far as we know, there are no * ratings awarded for homestays yet. As the title suggests, you will be a guest in someone’s home. We often use homestays when trekking and visiting minority tribal villages or remote areas, allowing our guests to experience life in these more remote destinations. We also feature a handful of city-center homestays. Homestay accommodation is basic but comfortable; bedding and mosquito nets are provided. The standard of facilities varies depending on location. |
Day 02: Ta Van - Giang Ta Chai Village - Sapa (B,L)
Have breakfast at your homestay and enjoy the peaceful morning in Ta Van Village. Today, you will go on a walking tour with the following route: Ta Van – Bamboo forest – Waterfall – Giang Ta Chai village - Sapa
It is amazing to hike among the gorgeous mountains. You will enjoy stunning views of mountains, rice paddies, waterfalls, rivers, and cross bridges where you can see local women washing clothes. Have lunch in the village. At the end of the tour, drive back to Sapa Town and transfer to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free for leisure. Dinner is on your own.

14h30: Transfer back to Hanoi by a Shuttle Limousine Bus. The travel time is approximately 5 hours. Transfer to the Hotel for check-in. End of services.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR SAPA TOUR:
- What to take: Bring along a day backpack, a light cotton dress/trousers, a warm jacket (rain and wind, silk sleeping bag, mosquito repellent, good walking/hiking shoes, a walking stick, sun hat/sun lotion, hand lotion, lip balm.
- Be aware that in rainy times the trail is muddy and slippery
- Roads: Driving can be a challenge as roads can be bumpy or under construction, and driving time depends on weather and road conditions – only rough estimates can be given.
